SGA - Miller's Crossing again
Dec. 3rd, 2007 07:05 amOkay, aside from the question what John himself would consider acceptable to live with for himself ...
Did anybody stop a moment to think about the fact that John's decision was most likely the only one that achieved a result *Rodney* could live with afterwards?
John does nothing - Jeannie dies, Rodney drowns in a sea of guilt, don't think this needs further explanation.
John sacrifices himself - You don't need me to explain the result of *this*, right? See above.
(After all, it's one thing to live with the knowledge John sacrificed himself for the whole expedition but it's a completely other thing to know he did it for *you*.)
A *really* innocent person volunteers (soldier, suicide mission etc.) - Did I already mention drowning in a sea of guilt? Yes? Okay then.
A *really* innocent person is violently forced to serve as Wraith-fodder - so *not* an option at all.
That leaves ...
Make the *not* innocent but quite *accountable* person see what would be the right thing to do and let him do it.
From John's viewpoint pretty much the only option if he takes the question of "how will Rodney deal with it" into account (as I said, aside from what he would consider acceptable to live with for *himself*).
And Wallace "innocent", poor, grieving dad??? *Uhm* Yes, I give you the "grieving dad" but not the "innocent". Injecting deathly nanites in a completely innocent Jeannie and calmly accepting that "both will die" if Rodney doesn't come up with a solution? I think you can't be farther away from being innocent without actually *finish* committing murder.
