SGA 510/511 - Did anybody else ...
... got the idea that the Atlantis-gate exploding would have been *the* opportunity to cut off Atlantis from earth even more and make their situation more suspenseful and dangerous again?
I mean, the Atlantis-gate has this unique crystal that makes it the only Pegasus-gate which can access earth's gate - and here it blew up. Now, putting another gate in its place would allow the Atlantis-people to gate around in Pegasus but, since it would lack this certain crystal, it wouldn't allow contact to earth, neither outgoing nor incoming, no gate-travels to or from earth, no messages via gate-contact - no instant help, not even the possibility to cry for help.
The Daedalus would remain the one and only possibility of contact to earth at all and we know that, once the ship has left, it will take at least 6 weeks until they're gonna see it again. At least - which means, if something unexpected happens that hinders or delays the regular runs, nobody on Atlantis would know about it, nobody would know if the ship will ever return.
And, of course, Atlantis would search and look for either a new crystal or for the information on how to build one to make their gate earth-accessible again. Possibilities! Possibilities!
*Sigh*
Too bad they didn't jump on that chance. Ah, hell, hope the one or other fanfic-author will do it. It's the perfect set up for Atlantis growing independent and secede from earth slowly in S5.

Of course. *G* Glad you managed to find the link despite all the holes in your bra... *uh* cheese. *G* ;-)
>>But with mismatching fabric making his pants longer John would just look silly.
Exactly. *g* Like we practically all did back in the seventies when broad strips of ridiculously floral patterned fabric were used to make the jeans look longer since it was hip to have the seams of the pant legs draggle in the dust. Aside from that, John would just tuck his too short pants into his boots and nobody would notice. ;-)
>>Maybe Atlantis is helping him with that.
Super secret sewing studio in the once flooded basement? ;-)
>>"Tea, Earl Grey, hot". :P
Yes, that's what I meant. Thanks for going all Cpt. Picard on me. *G*
>>Good thing I'm here to remind you about things like that. hehe
Wouldn't know what to do without your assistance. ;-)

Oh and the "young lady" comment from earlier seems to be fitting after all. What with me being born in the late seventies and having no recollection of floral patterned fabric unless it was a pretty dress or a table cloth. :P
Nope, no sewing studio. Though if they wanted one I am sure they'd find a way. I was thinking more along the lines of items of clothing suddenly appearing in John's quarters. And if some poor marine is missing a pair of pants after washing them (assuming they have washing machines... they are known to "eat" socks, after all) or someone from botany can't find his last black t-shirt he swears he put in a drawer for safekeeping... no one is connecting these "incidents" to Sheppard being unusually well dressed in times like these. ;)
Hey, TNG was my first sci-fi show. I started watching when they first aired it on ZDF. Had to get my parents to like it so I could watch. Got them hooked on sci-fi. :D
I say. :P

See, one traumatic experience less. ;-)

God, in this case I can only hope the magical-clothes-stealing Atlantis washing machine can see the difference between say, Teldy's clothes and Johns. Or he might end up with something black and elastic for the upper body for which he isn't equipped to fill it out. ;-)
